Why Has Beauty Become So Complicated?

I have always loved beauty. I can remember pouring over magazines as a young girl, dreaming about the day I could apply swirls of pink blush, slick on colorful lipstick, and powder-puff my face to perfection. It was a dream.

As I got older, I managed to buy and wear as much makeup as possible (think Ronald McDonald, here). Some things never change, come see me on Instagram.

That all changed when I had a daughter of my own and I wanted to teach her about beauty.  I wanted to show her how to accentuate her beauty, show the world how beautiful kindness could be, and dress to leave something to the imagination. I was thinking Audrey Hepburn,  she was thinking Miley Cyrus.

It. Was. Jarring.

So, here I am, on my quest to post pictures of simple, elegant beauty done really right. Regardless of age, I hope you will join me!

P.S. These beauties shared some time with me last weekend. Seeing them together reminded me the very foundation of the most basic kind of beauty – being loved.
